At DrJ Skincare, we believe that any acne regimen should aim at naturally addressing all these issues without turning to harsh, drying, or synthetic chemicals that may further damage skin. Here is our recommended routine for a clear, luminous, and balanced complexion.
The Regimen
Cleanse: Getting rid of dead cells, dirt, and bacteria that may clog pores is the first step in any acne routine. We recommend Organic Rejuvenating Gel Cleanser or Revitalizing Cleansing Gel For Sensitive Skin depending on your skin type. The Organic Rejuvenating Gel Cleanser naturally lifts away debris and dead cells while soothing and calming with Aloe and Rose Geranium Complex. Organic Blueberry and Calendula Extracts clean without over drying to leave skin feeling clean, but not tight and ready for the next step.
If you suffer from sensitive skin, you may prefer the Revitalizing Cleansing Gel. This product goes all in on refreshing and soothing, while supporting natural collagen production and healing. Both cleansers offer only mild foaming which provides a thorough cleanse without dehydration. Both are made with certified organic and natural ingredients and are free of harmful chemicals like parabens and sulfates (as are all our products).
Tone: The next step in a comprehensive acne routine is toning, which balances the skin’s moisture levels and primes it to accept the steps that come after. Organic Facial Elixir is our go-to for this step. Featuring soothing Chamomile and Lavender extracts, it is rich in antioxidants to nourish and calm, reducing redness and puffiness for a more even complexion.
Treat: Once skin is toned, its time for the big guns! Our Clear Skin Complex features Willow Bark (a natural alternative to synthetic salicylic acid) and Tea Tree extracts to calm skin and reduce breakouts. Antioxidant ingredients like Blackberry and Pomegranate Extracts help skin to defend itself from environmental stressors and diminish the possibility of future outbreaks.
Hydrate: After treatment, it’s important to restore skin’s natural moisture levels to prevent surface layers from dying, flaking, and clogging pores. Skin Revitalizing Hydrator works to restore Hyaluronic Acid, which is the same moisturizing ingredient that your skin produces naturally. This chemical bonds moisture from the air to the skin, rather than relying on heavy oils or lotions that may clog pores. D-Panthenol and Polyphenols also help to calm and soothe sensitive or irritated skin. This hydrator is so effective that we recommend it for all skin types.
Exfoliate: Since one of the causes of acne is dead skin cells, we recommend exfoliating once a week or so to remove these cells and promote the growth of new cells underneath. The key to this process, is to keep it gentle, especially for those with sensitive skin. Our Exfoliating Lotion removes dirt, debris, and dead cells with a combination of a gentle physical exfoliator provided by natural Walnut particles, as well as soft enzymatic exfoliation from Papaya Extract. Once again, organic Chamomile and Aloe soothe to keep the skin balanced and calm while the exfoliants reveal a smooth and even complexion.
